Introduction:
WordPress is a CMS(content management system) platform written in PHP. It is an open-source platform means it is free to use. WordPress has used a theme, plugin, and MySQL or Maria DB database. In the beginning, WordPress was developed to create the blog site only but later it was starting to be developed gradually for the portfolio, informative, and e-commerce site.
History of WordPress:
WordPress is launched in 2003 by the American developer Matt Mullenweg and English developer Mike Little.it was developed for those who are new in the website development segment as it is very easy to learn. Now 40 % of the websites are developed by WordPress so you guys can guess the potential of that platform. WordPress platform is free under the license GPLv2.
Why we will use WordPress?
If you are new in the website development section Then it is the best platform for you because there is no need to have a huge coding knowledge to develop a WordPress website. The admin panel of the website is very user-friendly, anyone can access it smartly. There is a lot of plugins are available to use on your site to make a professional website. There is no need to have coding knowledge to install the plugins in it only you should have basic computer knowledge. If you need to buy some plugins for a specific purpose it is also available in the marketplace to buy and you will get the updates of the plugins freely.
WordPress theme:
The theme allows the users to change the look of the website, at least one theme is required to present one website. You can easily manage the theme to install in the WordPress platform and no need to change the core coding structure. WordPress themes are designed using PHP, HTML, and CSS only. You can install it from the WordPress dashboard in the appearance section or you can directly put the zip under the wp-content within the theme folder, here you need to decompress the zip file. There are two types of themes are available one is a free theme another is a premium theme, a free theme is available on the WordPress website and the premium themes are available in the market place but you can directly purchase from the individual users. If you have coding knowledge you can develop a theme for you and it would be best for you to learn. Genuinely if you want to design a WordPress theme for your website you only have a knowledge of PHP, HTML, and CSS.
WordPress Plugins:
Plugins are basically extended features of the website. If you need to have an extended function on your site you can use the plugins. there are two types of plugins are available in the market one is a free plugin and another is a premium plugin. free plugins are available on the official website of WordPress and you will get the premium plugins from any marketplace. I will recommend you not to use so many plugins in your site because it makes your site insecure and site loading time will be high but if you can develop plugins by themselves for your need it would not have any problems there.
Install WordPress on your local computer.
